Defi Meeting, Rennes, April 15, 2024
The 2024 spring meeting of the Defi was hosted by the WIDE team in Rennes and attended by at least one permanent researcher from each site (David Bomberg (organizer), Djob Mvondo, Julia Lawall, Alain Tchana, Renaud Lachaize, and Gael Thomas), and many interns, PhD students, postdocs, and engineers from the Defi teams. Local researchers, M2 students, and industry engineers also participated. The day consisted of 8 presentations by PhD students (of which 3 are funded by the Defi), 1 presentation by a postdoc, and 1 by an engineer, and lightning talks by 10 interns. 5 of the 20 speakers were women. The day concluded with a general discussions about current and future challenges for operating systems.

Defi Meeting, Grenoble, December 13, 2024
The 2024 fall meeting of the Defi was hosted by the KrakOS team in Grenoble and attended by one Defi permanent researcher from each site (Renaud Lachaize (co-organizer; the main organizer, Alain Tchana, was not able to attend), David Bromberg, Julia Lawall, and Gael Thomas), and many PhD students, postdocs, engineers, and other researchers from the Defi teams. The day consisted of 14 presentations by PhD students and postdocs (of which 3 are funded by the Defi). 4 of the speakers were women. The day concluded with a discussion about the length of a PhD in operating systems. Many of the attendees were also able to attend the HDR defense of Baptiste Lepers on December 12.
