Prof. Ann Now\u00e9 AI Lab – Computer Science Department – Vrije Universiteit Brussel<\/p><\/div>\n

Ann Now\u00e9<\/span><\/p>\n

Ann Now\u00e9<\/a> received her M.S. degree from Universiteit Gent, Belgium, in 1987, where she studied mathematics with a minor in computer science, and her Ph.D. degree from Vrije Universiteit Brussels (VUB), Belgium, in collaboration with Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London, U.K., in 1994.<\/p>\n

Her major area of interest is machine learning, in particular (multi- agent) reinforcement learning. Her research output includes 200+ co-authored articles in international journals and proceedings of international conferences, as well as the organization of tutorials and workshops at international conferences, including: AAMAS, ICML and ECML. She is the former chairman of the BNVKI (BeNeLux association for Artificial Intelligence) and was a board member of ECCAI (European Coordinating Committee for Artificial Intelligence, currently named EurAI). Presently, she is a board member of IFAAMAS, The International Foundation for Autonomous Agents and Multiagent Systems. She studies theoretical aspects of\u00a0reinforcement learning\u00a0as well as applications including planning&scheduling ,\u00a0telecom,\u00a0mechatronics and smart grids. More recently she also investigates how to make machine learning models more transparent and explainable to users.<\/p>\n

Fran\u00e7ois Schwarzentruber<\/a> is associate professor at ENS Rennes (France). His current research interests are mainly focused on theory and applications of logic to artificial intelligence, agency and multi-agent systems and computer science. He has been a PC member of some editions in that topics such as AAMAS and IJCAI. He is reviewer for journals such as Synthese, Studia Logica, Theoretical Computer Science. Since 2011, his research mainly focuses on studying formal methods for AI.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
