Summer School

General information

The school Machine Learning + Simulation takes place from Monday, May 18th to Friday, May 22nd 2026, at Inria Center at Université Côte d’azur, in Sophia-Antipolis. More details on the venue can be found here.

The school is organized into theoretical mini-classes, provided by lecturers, and practical sessions supervised by lecturers or local researchers.

It is particularly aimed at people with a scientific computing or applied mathematics background, who want to discover or deepen their knowledge of machine learning. No prerequisites in machine learning are necessary for the theoretical courses. However, a basic knowledge of the Python language is necessary for the practical sessions. The expected audience ranges from master’s students, doctoral students, and postdocs to engineers and researchers.

Lectures

  • Frédéric Précioso (Université Côte d’Azur): introductory tutorial on machine learning
  • Patrick Gallinari (Sorbonne Université): data-driven modeling
  • Laurent Navoret & Rémi Imbach (Université de Strasbourg): physics-informed machine learning
  • Laurent Cordier (Institut Pprime): reduced-order models and reinforcement learning for control
  • Bertrand Iooss & Alejandro Ribes (EDF R&D): Machine learning-based metamodels for emulating industrial costly simulations and solving inverse problems
