Despite their potential, the naive application to physical problems has however revealed some critical drawbacks, such as the lack of accuracy, robustness and explainability, the expensive training or the inability to intrinsically verify some established physical principles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To overcome these limitations, the hybridization of machine learning  techniques with classical scientific computing methodologies is a promising research axis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this context, the objective of the thematic semester <strong>Machine Learning + Simulation<\/strong> is to contribute to the development of these activities, by building bridges between specialists of machine learning and experts in simulation for various application fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Thematic semester<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Events<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The thematic semester <strong>Machine Learning + Simulation <\/strong>at Universit\u00e9 C\u00f4te d&#8217;Azur<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>organizes in 2026 some scientific events related to the interaction, coupling and hybridization of machine learning techniques and simulation methodologies, in particular a <a href=\"https:\/\/project.inria.fr\/mlsim2026\/summer-school\/\">Summer school<\/a> and a <a href=\"https:\/\/project.inria.fr\/mlsim2026\/spring-workshop\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"83\">Fall Workshop<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Internships<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>A set of <a href=\"https:\/\/project.inria.fr\/mlsim2026\/internships\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/project.inria.fr\/mlsim2026\/internships\/\">Master2 internships<\/a>, whose topics are in line with the semester, are granted in 2026 at Universit\u00e9 C\u00f4te d&#8217;Azur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Visits and seminars<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Some professors \/ researchers are invited in 2026, giving <a href=\"https:\/\/project.inria.fr\/mlsim2026\/114-2\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/project.inria.fr\/mlsim2026\/114-2\/\">seminars<\/a> on selected topics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Organisation team<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>The thematic semester is organized by:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Didier Auroux (LJAD, MSI)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Silvia Bottini (INRAE, Smile team)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Guillaume Cordonnier (Inria, GraphDeco team)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>R\u00e9gis Duvigneau (Inria, LJAD, Acumes team)[chair]<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Elie Hachem (CEMEF, CFL team)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Abdelrahman Ijjeh (LEAT, CMA team)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Aur\u00e9lien Larcher (CEMEF, CFL team)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Angelos Mantzaflaris (Inria, Aromath team)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Julie Regnier (CEREMA)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Thomas Rey (LJAD)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>R\u00e9my Sun (Inria, I3S, Maasai team)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sponsors<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>This project is supported by the <a href=\"https:\/\/univ-cotedazur.fr\/recherche-innovation\/structures-de-recherche\/academies-dexcellence\/academie-2\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/univ-cotedazur.fr\/recherche-innovation\/structures-de-recherche\/academies-dexcellence\/academie-2\">Excellence Academy &#8220;Complex Systems&#8221;<\/a> at Universit\u00e9 C\u00f4te d&#8217;Azur, as well as Inria and INRAE research institutes and CIROQUO consortium.
