For example,<br \/>\nwe are using GitHub to understand and predict the<br \/>\npopularity of open source projects, to understand<br \/>\nthe motivations behind refactoring, to assess the<br \/>\nconcentration of knowledge in software teams, and<br \/>\nto study the evolution of software APIs.<\/p>\n<p>Bio:<\/p>\n<p>Marco Tulio Valente received his PhD degree in Computer Science<br \/>\nfrom the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil (2002),<br \/>\nwhere he is an assistant professor in the Computer Science Department,<br \/>\nsince 2010. His research interests include software architecture<br \/>\nand modularity, software maintenance and evolution, and<br \/>\nsoftware quality analysis. He is a \u201cResearcher I-D\u201d of the Brazilian<br \/>\nNational Research Council (CNPq). He also holds a \u201cResearcher<br \/>\nfrom Minas Gerais State\u201d scholarship, from FAPEMIG.
