Edito - September 2016

We hope you had a great summer, whether busy working or … not!

We would like to remind you about the upcoming deadline for the Inria Associate teams: you still have 2 weeks left to finalize your proposal and even start editing one. We recall that information about the Inria@SiliconValley associate teams may be found on the dedicated page (https://project.inria.fr/siliconvalley/research/associate-teams/) while, this month, the newsletter features the HYPERION team.

Another call that may be of interest to support ongoing or foreseen collaborations in the context of Inria@SiliconValley is the one for Fulbright Fellowships for PhD students and Researchers. There is ample time since the deadline is on February 1, 2017 but a Fulbright application must be carefully prepared in advance (at least 2 months!).

The nice thing with open calls is that they are always followed by congratulations toward the awardees. We are in particular happy to congratulate:

• The awardees of the 2016 calls of the France-Berkeley Funds and of the France-Stanford center for interdisciplinary studies, which, this year, involve two collaborations with Inria teams.

• The 2016 Inria@SiliconValley Post-Doctoral fellows, Nina Miolane and Ziran Zhang, who are going to work with the Associate teams GeomStats and REALMS, respectively.

• Adrien Bousseau, Inria researcher and French principal investigator of the Inria@SiliconValley CRISP associate team, who got awarded a prestigious ERC grant under the 2016 call for Starting Research Positions.

We wish you all a very fruitful new academic year!

Valerie Issarny, program scientific coordinator, on behalf of the Inria@SiliconValley Team
