Edito - June/July 2017

First of all, we would like to warmly thank CITRIS and the Banatao Institute and its team for co-organizing and hosting the International Conference on « Blockchain Technology for Cybersecurity and Social Impact » on June 9th. We would also like to thank all the amazing speakers, the participants (over 150!) and our sponsors who made this event a great success! We hope the many exchanges everybody had will lead to future fruitful collaborations (think about the Inria Associate Team program!). If you missed it, don’t worry: you can watch the whole conference on the CITRIS youtube channel (see link in the article)!

In this edition we would like to promote two important calls to support collaborations between Inria and California:

•  The 2018 call of the Associate Team program to support 3-year joint research projects: deadline is September 27th!

• The Inria International Chair call for eminent international researchers to spend 12 months in an Inria research team over a five-year period.

Also, we want to congratulate:

•  Maria Laura delle Monache and Samitha Samiranayake who were awarded by the France-Berkeley Fund for their work on optimal traffic flow with GPS enabled smartphones

iEx.ec  and Lybero.net, the two « made in Inria » start-ups that were selected in the framework of the NETVA program. They will each benefit from a one week immersion program respectively in San Francisco and Washington D.C.

Finally we feature in the  Newsletter,  the Inria@SiliconValley joint research project (aka Associate Team) SNOWFLAKE on Knowledge discovery from linked data and clinical notes between the ORPAILLEUR Inria team in Nancy and Stanford Center for Biomedical Informatics Research.

We wish you all a wonderful summer!

Valerie Issarny, program scientific coordinator, on behalf of the Inria@SiliconValley Team
