Edito - October 2017

In this edition, the focus on the  associate team « STATWEB »  closes the cycle of presentations of the Inria-California  joint research projects that were featured in the 2011-2014 activity report of  Inria@SiliconValley. Starting next month, we will begin introducing the joint projects that have been created since 2015, therefore showing the dynamics and breadth of the Inria@SiliconValley collaborations.
This month, we are much happy to feature the success of our colleagues: Xavier Pennec from the GEOMSTAT associate team who got elected fellow of the MICCAI scientific society, and Margaret Koehler from Stanford University, who got awarded a Chateaubriand fellowship to work with the Inria team DEFROST in Lille.
Also we would like to advertise funding opportunities that are currently open to support Inria-California research collaborations. Consider applying for: the France-Stanford Center for Interdisciplinary Studies, the France-Berkeley Fund, and the different fellowship programs (Fulbright, Luis W. Alvez, and Chateaubriand) !

In addition to promoting and supporting collaborations focused on scientific research, Inria@SiliconValley also supports initiatives toward innovation. We are glad to feature such an initiative in our Newsletter: Jack Fuchs, lecturer in Entrepreneurship at Stanford University was invited to give a 2-day seminar at Inria. We talked with Jack and Inria’s Deputy CEO for Transfer and Industrial Partnerships, Eric Horlait, to know more about this experience!

Valerie Issarny, program scientific coordinator, on behalf of the Inria@SiliconValley Team
