Social Impact<\/a>\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Over 150 participants among which researchers and representatives of public organizations, SMEs and start-ups, attended the one-day conference.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The conference featured 3 keynotes (followed by Q&amp;As) :<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>&#8220;Blockchain for Social Good&#8221; by Hanna Zubko, Founder, IntellectEU Inc<strong>.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Brian Behlendorf, Executive Director, Hyperledger Project.<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;The State of Blockchain 2017&#8221; by Melanie Swan.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In addition, three panels, each organized around 4 experts, fostered discussions and debates on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Future of Blockchain Technology.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Blockchain for Social Good.<\/li>\n<li>Blockchain &amp; Cybersecurity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The panels were respectively chaired by Jeremy McLaughlin from Associate, K&amp;L Gates,Brandie Nonnecke, from the CITRIS and the Banatao Institute and Alessandro Voto, West Coast Regional Director of Consensys.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/playlist?list=PLYTiwx6hV33uUeHr67AzsxCz5ANRcR4E6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The entire conference is now available on the CITRIS youtube channel!<\/a><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/i\/moments\/872883009036337152\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">#BLOCKCHAINFORGOOD on Twitter<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/project.inria.fr\/siliconvalley\/files\/2017\/06\/Programme_Blockchain-V2.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Conference full program<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/project.inria.fr\/siliconvalley\/files\/2017\/06\/Biographies_Blockchain-V2.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Speakers and panelists bios<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>June 9, 2017: \u00a0Inria@SiliconValley working sessions<\/h2>\n<p>The annual workshop is the opportunity for the Inria@SiliconValley research community to meet and exchange about ambitious new projects.<\/p>\n<p>For the 2017 edition the working sessions brought together researchers around\u00a03 themes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/project.inria.fr\/siliconvalley\/bis2017-day2-computational-methods\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Computational methods for the better understanding of human cognition and health &#8211;<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a>organized by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/joke-durnez-1812b726\">Joke Durnez<\/a>, Stanford University\/Inria, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/site\/ninamiolane\/\">Nina Miolane<\/a>, Inria\/Stanford University, Consultant for Bay Labs:\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The working session \u00a0started by presenting the\u00a0most recent developments of (neuro) informatics tools by the ongoing Inria@SiliconValley collaborations. These collaborations include the Inria teams Asclepios, Athena, Magnet, Parietal and the california institutions Berkeley, USC and Stanford. The morning session enabled attendees to get a deeper understanding of the current<em>Inria@SiliconValley<\/em>\u00a0projects, fostering further discussion and collaboration. In the second part of the session, the discussion expanded to\u00a0the\u00a0most recent breakthroughs based on \u2018brain computing\u2019 in the industrial world and in academia. Leaders in neuroscience both from industry and academia presented their ongoing activities.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/project.inria.fr\/siliconvalley\/bis2017-day2-scaling-up-for-iot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Scaling up for the IoT:\u00a0<\/a><\/strong>organized by<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/ceng.usc.edu\/~bkrishna\/\">Bhaskar Krishnamachari<\/a>, University of Southern California, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mimove.inria.fr\/members\/valerie-issarny\/\">Valerie Issarny<\/a>, Inria@SiliconValley:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">The full day working session brought together -but not only- researchers involved in the Inria@SiliconValley theme\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/project.inria.fr\/siliconvalley\/research\/associate-teams\/#A2\">\u201cComputing &amp; Communication for the Future Internet<\/a>\u201c. The session was a follow-up to the<a href=\"http:\/\/anrg.usc.edu\/ngiot16\/index.html\">\u00a0US-Europe Workshop on Next-Generation Internet of Things<\/a>, organized in Spring 2016 by\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mhi.usc.edu\/\">The Ming Hsieh Institute<\/a>\u00a0in the Dept. of Electrical Engineering at the University of Southern California in collaboration with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/project.inria.fr\/siliconvalley\/\">Inria@SiliconValley<\/a>.\u00a0The session concentrated on\u00a0 research challenges emphasizing the scale issue, which is not solely concerned by the ultra large volume of things and data involved but also their diversity.\u00a0The session first gathered the scale-related challenges faced and addressed by the participants to then exchanged about possible joint effort toward cross-fertilization of the ongoing research.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/project.inria.fr\/siliconvalley\/bis2017-day2-level-set-methods\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Level-set methods, parallel computing and uncertainty quantification: Techniques and application-\u00a0<\/strong><\/a>organized by <a href=\"https:\/\/engineering.ucsb.edu\/~fgibou\/\">Frederic Gibou<\/a>, UC Santa Barbara, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.math.u-bordeaux.fr\/~cpoignar\/\">Clair Poignard<\/a>, Inria:\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The workshop covered a broad range of topics in the mathematics and other quantitative aspects of interface problems.
