Call for demos

WIFS 2017 will feature a demo session this year. The demo session will take place in the morning on Wednesday, December 6th, concurrently with a poster session to maximize visibility.

The demo session is intended for academic and industrial exhibitors who wants to disseminate their IFS results in a more tangible way than a manuscript. The objective is to showcase real-life implementations of research results. Nevertheless, demos that illustrate groundbreaking results will also be considered to preserve a balance between the academic and the industry ecosystem.

Each demonstration will be provided with a table and an electrical power strip. Any other equipment needs to be provided by the demonstrators. You will be responsible for any shipping costs, delivery to and from the conference as well as care for your equipment during the conference. Demonstrators are not required to register to the WIFS 2017 (unless they wish to attend sessions).

Submission of proposals

The organization committee is soliciting proposals for demonstrations to be presented during WIFS 2017. The demonstrations can be related to any of the technical areas defined in the call for papers. Authors are invited to submit a two-page abstract describing the technology being demonstrated, the equipment that will be used for the demonstration and the demonstration experience. This abstract must clearly explain how the proposed demo is innovative and of interest for WIFS attendees. The abstract can be enriched with multimedia attachments.

The proposals will be evaluated on the following criteria:

  1. Scope: does the proposal fit in WIFS 2017?
  2. Maturity: is the demo a GUI over a simulator, a prototype, a product?
  3. Novelty: has the demo (or a similar one) been ever seen before?
  4. Interactivity: how much can the attendees interact with the demo?
  5. Conciseness: how much time does it take for an attendee to go through the demo?

Proposals shall be submitted by email to the Demo Chair, Mr. Gwenaël Doërr (gwenael.doerr@contentarmor.net), before the submission deadline. Accepted proposals will need to provide additional material (1 slide teaser, half page description) for inclusion in the material of the conference.
