Short bio

Guillaume Allibert was born in France in 1980. He received the M.Sc. degree in electronics science from the University of Picardie Jules Verne, France, in 2005, and the Ph.D. degree in Automatic Control from the University of Orléans, France, in 2008.
He is an Associate Professor at the I3S UCA-CNRS laboratory with University of Nice Sophia Antipolis, Nice, France, since 2009 and an external collaborator of the CHORALE Team since March 2018.
Its research interests include control and estimation of nonlinear systems, and more specifically sensor based control, visual servoing, model predictive control with application to mobile robots such as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and Autonomous Underwater Vehicles.
Since January 1st 2019, he is the principal investigator of the french ANR CLARA project. In this project, we propose to tackle the challenge of autonomous navigation of an UAV within a forest with the added objective of 3D mapping. We then distinguish three scientific hurdles to solve:
– The control of the drone in a complex and unknown environment;
– The perception and representation of a complex and unstructured environment for obstacle avoidance and the study of traversability;
– 3D reconstruction and localization of a flying robot in an environment where objects are not very discriminate / differentiable.
