This conference aims at contextualizing the effects of the “#MeToo moment” in several countries through a comparison of “regular” students, and those who are sympathetic to gender equality. The comparison mainly focuses on France and Spain, with opening to Argentina and Chile. We will discuss the combined effect of public policies, feminist action and academic research; then we will question how students approach the subject depending on their political and national sociabilisation.

Viviane Albenga is an Associate Professor in sociology at the University of Bordeaux Montaigne, within the MICA laboratory, and a junior member of the Institut Universitaire de France. She specializes in sociology of gender and feminist ideas, in the contexts of cultural practices, educational policies and student mobilizations. She wrote “S’émanciper par la lecture. Genre, classe et usages sociaux des livres” (PUR, 2017). Her current research focuses on the circulation of feminist ideas in gender studies in France, Spain and Argentina.
