When:
The workshop will take place from Tuesday, January 12th 2026 to Thursday, January 14th 2026.
The important deadlines are given here.

Where:
The workshop will take place in Institut Henri Poincaré (IHP).
More details on the location can be found here.

What:
The workshop is dedicated to the “physical understanding & mathematical modeling of particles near walls”. It covers experimental, theoretical and numerical studies related to the motion of particles immersed in a fluid near a surface. This includes aspects related to marine & aeolian transport of particles (e.g. river sediments, sand transport and saltation, resuspension of contamined particles like pathogens or radioactive matter). The workshop will gather scientists from various communities (e.g. geophysics, fluid dynamics, mathematics, engineers) to exchange ideas and build new collaborations on this topic.

Format:
The workshop includes regular presentations of 30 minutes each.
A tentative program is available here.

Application and grants:
Interested participants are required to submit an abstract here. The abstracts will be reviewed and selected by the scientific committee due to the limited space available (55 participants max).
Two grants will be given to young researchers who need support for travel and accommodation.

Registration (no fee):
The workshop will be free of charges. Registration is mandatory due to the limited amount of space. Registration includes lunches and coffee breaks for the 3 days. Costs for accommodation and transport will not be covered by the organizers and are the sole responsibility of the attendees (except the two grants for young researchers).
