The Network of the Future PEPR is structured in 10 Projects.

Project 9 is focused on the Foundations of Communication Networks.

It covers three topics of research :

  • Identification of theoretical limits of communications in the information theoretic sense, incorporating strong latency constraints or the use of the meaning of what is transmitted from coding to protocols and up to the physical layer.
  • Determination of the optimal spatial organization of the network elements given the limitations of information theory. This requires new mathematical tools and new models taking future network elements into account.
  • Design of real-time and non-real-time distributed control algorithms allowing the exploitation of such network architectures. The main objective here is to bring future networks closer to the fundamental limits studied in this project.
