Top-up: new Inria-LNCC project funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR)

Topic: High-resolution topography upscaling for overland flows

Brazilian team : Frédéric Valentin, Senior Researcher and Head of the Department of Computational and Mathematical Methods at LNCC (Petrópolis, Brazil), International Chair at Inria Sophia Antipolis – Méditerranée

French team: Konstantin Brenner from the University of Côte d’Azur and member of the Inria team COFFEE (PI)

  • Roland Masson, University of Côte d’Azur and member of Inria team COFFEE
Ludovic Andres, University of Côte d’Azur and Geographic Information Department at Métropole Nice Côte d’Azur
  • Cindy Guichard, Sorbonne University and member of the INRIA team ANGE
Sébastien Boyaval, Ecole des Ponts ParisTech, member of the Inria team MATHERIALS

Hosting French partner: University of Côte d’Azur

Duration: 4 years (January 2021- December 2024)

Summary:

The project will address numerical modeling of overland flows which plays an increasingly important role in predicting, anticipating and controlling floods, helping to size and position protective systems including dams, dikes or rainwater drainage network. The major objective of Top-up is to setup and validate a new technology that will allow to exploit readily available high-resolution topographical data sets within the urban flood simulations
