Julien Pettre

Inria Research Scientist, Inria

Julien Pettré received PhD from the University of Toulouse III in 2003, and Habilitation from the University of Rennes I in 2015. From 2004 to 2006, he was postdoctoral fellow at EPFL in Switzerland. He joined Inria in 2006.

He is currently coordinator of the European H2020 Crowdbot project (2018-21), dedicated to the design of robot navigation techniques for crowded environments. He previously coordinated the national ANR JCJC Percolation project (2013-17) dedicated to the design of new microscopic crowd simulation algorithms, as well as the national ANR CONTINT Chrome project, dedicated to efficient and designer-friendly techniques for crowd animation. His research interests are crowd simulation, computer animation, virtual reality, robot navigation and motion planning.

Florian Berton

Florian Berton graduated in September 2016 from ENSIMAG engineering school, with a specialty in computer vision and 3D graphic and in December 2016 from Ecole Polytechnique Montréal, with a Research-Based Master degree in the Biomedical Engineering Department.

Since 2017, he is a PhD student at Inria Rennes – Bretagne Atlantique, in the Rainbow team, under the supervision of Julien Pettré. The subject of his thesis is “Design of a virtual reality platform for studying immersion and behaviours in aggressive crowds” in the context of the project OPMOPS.

Benjamin Niay

Benjamin Niay graduated in 2018 from Telecom Physique Strasbourg engineering school. He also received in 2018 a Master of Science in biomedical engineering from Université de Strasbourg.

Since 2018, he is a PhD student at Inria Rennes – Bretagne Atlantique, in the MIMETIC team, under the supervision of Julien Pettré and Ludovic Hoyet. The thematic of his thesis is animation of virtual characters.

Wouter van Toll

Postdoctoral Researcher, Inria

Wouter van Toll was a PhD student from 2012 to 2016 at Utrecht University, The Netherlands (Department of Information and Computing Sciences). He defended his PhD thesis, titled “Navigation for Characters and Crowds in Complex Virtual Environments”, on 30 March 2017. His research focused on path planning and crowd simulation in 2D/3D geometry.

Since 2018, he is a postdoctoral researcher in the RAINBOW team of Inria Rennes. He conducts research on crowd simulation, under supervision of Julien Pettré.

Fabien Grzeskowiak

Fabien Grzeskowiak graduated in 2016 from ENSMM engineering school, with a major in mechatronics and automation and from UFC university with a major in mechatronics, micro-systems and on-board electronics.

Since 2018, he is a PhD student at Inria Rennes – Bretagne Atlantique, in the Rainbow team, under the supervision of Julien Pettré. The work of his thesis is mainly focused on the design of a fully simulated physical environment, which simulate a crowd and a robot, in order to evaluate navigation techniques.

Javad Amirian

Javad Amirian received a master in Artificial Intelligence from Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, in 2014 and beforehand a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from Shahid Beheshti University, Tehran, in 2012.

Since 2018, he is a PhD student at Inria Rennes – Bretagne Atlantique, in the Rainbow team, under the supervision of Julien Pettré. The subject of his thesis is “Short-term Prediction of Crowd Motion for Robot Navigation” in the context of the project CrowdBot.

Julien Bruneau

Julien Bruneau graduated in 2010 from ENSEIRB engineering school and in 2011 from university of Pierre et Marie Curie.

Since 2018, he is a research engineer at Inria Rennes – Bretagne Atlantique, in the Rainbow team, under the supervision of Julien Pettré. He works on project OPMOPS on the virtual reality platform to study human behaviour in the crowd.

Adèle Colas

Adèle graduated in 2019 from IMT Atlantique engineering school and has a computer science master degree from Paris Sud University.

Since 2019, she is a PhD student at Inria Rennes – Bretagne Atlantique, in the Rainbow team, under the supervision of Julien Pettré. The thematic of her thesis is “virtual human collective and interactive behaviour modeling” in the context of the project PRESENT.

Ramana Sundararaman
