COMFORT led by Prof. Roberto Horowitz (UCB) and Dr Carlos Canudas de Wit (NECS, Inria Grenoble) on “COntrol and FORecasting in Transportation networks “: COMFORT addresses open issues for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). The goal of these systems is to use information technologies (sensing, signal processing, machine learning, communications, and control) to improve traffic flow, as well as enhance the safety and comfort of drivers. These tools are doubtlessly of very high societal and economical value. It has been established over the past several decades, through field studies and many scholarly publications, that the tools of ITS can significantly improve the flow of traffic on congested freeways and streets.

SNOWFLAKE led by Prof. Nigam Shah (Stanford University) and Dr. Adrien Coulet (ORPAILLEUR, Inria Nancy) on “Semantic Knowledge Discovery from Linked Data and Clinical Notes“: Recent results of the Stanford Center for Biomedical Informatics Research (BMIR) illustrate the opportunity that Electronic Health Records offer for knowledge discovery. To take full advantage of this opportunity, new methods of Knowledge Discovery from Data are necessary. This project aims at developing such methods, and validating them by discovering novel biomedical knowledge.
