On 1 January 2016, Carlos Canudas de Wit was elevated IEEE Fellow for his contributions to modeling and control of mechanical, robotic, and networked systems.
Carlos, who leads the NECS Inria project team and is director of research at CNRS, has been an automation specialist for more than 20 years; his research on the control of networked systems mainly focuses on “intelligent” transportation and robotics within Inria and the GIPSA laboratory.
Since 2014 Carlos Canudas is the French principal investigator of the Inria@SiliconValley Associate Team COMFORT (Control and forecasting in transportation networks) with U.C. Berkeley (Prof. Roberto Horowitz).
The IEEE Fellow distinction is reserved for IEEE members who have made a major contribution to one of this prestigious professional association’s fields of research; less than 0.1% of its members are awarded an IEEE Fellowship each year.
