The 2020 call for proposals of the France-Berkeley Fund is now open until January 31, 2020.
Established in 1993 as a partnership between the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and the University of California in Berkeley, the France-Berkeley Fund supports and promotes scholarly collaboration in all disciplines between the University of California and public research centers and institutions of higher learning in France.
The Fund considers projects jointly submitted by a tenured or tenure-track professor or a permanent researcher at UC Berkeley or UC Davis (postdocs are generally not eligible to apply), and a professor or permanent researcher at a public research institution or institution of higher learning in France.
Faculty and researchers may apply for up to $12,000 in seed funding for bi-national collaborations in all fields of study (Applied Sciences, Engineering, Exact Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences) as well as Professional Schools.
There are two special grant opportunities for the 2020 call for proposals: projects on translation, language usage and history, or linguistic change (Humanities & Social Sciences) and collaborations with Université Paris Sciences et Lettres (PSL) (all disciplines).
Funded projects may begin between July 1 and December 1, 2020, and must be completed within one year of their start date.
