Deborah Agarwal, a senior scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, has been awarded an international chair by the Inria Chairs Commitee for the period 2015-2019. Agarwal, head of Berkeley Lab’s Data Science and Technology Department, will join the MYRIADS team based in Inria Rennes during the first semester of 2015. The team is led by Christine Morin, who was hosted by Agarwal at Berkeley Lab from September 2011 to August 2013. This chair award is expected to foster a high level of collaboration between the two partners, who in 2013 created the associated team DALHIS. The joint work relates to next-generation scientific data analysis environments. Agarwal’s first long visit In Rennes will give the opportunity to jointly study with MYRIADS team an open mobile data-taking platform for environmental scientific applications. In addition to her position at Berkeley Lab, Agarwal is also a a senior Fellow in the Berkeley Data Science Institute (BDIS) at the University of California, Berkeley.
