Xavier Pennec, Senior researcher at Sophia Antipolis – Méditerranée centre, and co-leader of the Inria@SiliconValley associate team Geomstat with Stanford University, has been elected as a Fellow of the MICCAI scientific society for “pioneering theoretical contributions grounding the field of computational anatomy, shape statistics and medical image computing”.
He is the second scientist from the Inria Asclepios project-team being honored with this distinction, along with team leader Nicholas Ayache.
MICCAI (Medical Image Computing and Computer Assisted Intervention) Society Fellowship was started in 2009 to recognize exceptional contributions to Medical Image Computing and/or Computer-assisted Interventions, of senior members to the MICCAI community.
