The Thomas Jefferson Fund 2018 Call for Proposals

The Thomas Jefferson Fund is now accepting applications! Deadline is March 12th, 2018

Created by the Embassy of France in the United States and the FACE Foundation, the Thomas Jefferson Fund supports cooperation among the most promising young French and American researchers, and foster forward-looking collaborative research that addresses the most pressing global challenges.

Each selected project will receive a maximum of $20,000 over a period of two years.

 

Applications are accepted in the three following fields:

  • Humanities and Social Sciences (SSH)
  • Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)
  • Science for Society (interdisciplinary STEM-SSH projects)

The most innovative projects involving significant transatlantic mobility, collaborative research activities, the organization of joint workshops or conferences, the publication of joint articles, and the participation of younger researchers (PhDs) will receive the highest priority.

The grant will cover travel expenses between France and the US, accommoda on costs and a part of the organizational costs of joint conferences, and of publication costs. Partner researchers are encouraged to obtain « in kind » and/or « in cash » co-funding from their ins tu ons or from other sources of funding to cover all other types of expenses necessary to the successful implementation of the joint research project.

Proposals must be jointly submitted by one American researcher and one French researcher at the beginning of their career, with mid- to long- term positions at a research or higher education ins tu on in the United States or in France (post-doctorate level, assistant or associate professor, maître de conférences or chargé de recherche).
